When you think about a river cruise, the first thing that usually comes to mind is a European cruise on the Rhine or Danube rivers. However, an American river cruise is a great way to see the USA. Our travel guru Michelle Newman recently returned from a Snake and Columbia Rivers Lewis & Clark Cruise and she’s here to tell us all about her Pacific Northwest adventure.

American Cruise Lines has created a 60-day package combining four major rivers and two coasts on three ships. The line is calling it the longest-ever domestic cruise itinerary.

If you have a U.S. travel bucket list, a new sailing from American Cruise Lines is sure to check at least a few items off.

Bremerton’s ship has come in — literally and figuratively.

Cruise ships will dock there for the next 45 Fridays, which will be a boon to downtown businesses and attractions around Kitsap County.

Rep. Julia Letlow (R-La.) christened the American Serenade in Vidalia, La., on the Mississippi River. While Stacia Morfin, CEO of Nez Perce Tourism and a citizen of the Nimíipuu Nation, christened American Jazz in Clarkston, Wash., on the Snake River. The two godmothers were joined by ACL’s guests, crew, and executives, as well as state and local officials who welcomed the ships to their respective regions.

In a canyon at the Idaho border and alongside a bayou in Louisiana, two nearly identical cruise ships were just christened. American Cruise Lines announced the christening of sister ships American Jazz and American Serenade, two of the lines’ six new riverboats.

“The two christenings, one in a desert canyon and one on the bayou, show the incredible breadth of river cruise options in the USA,” said Charles B. Robertson, President & CEO, American Cruise Lines. “They also show the growth of American Cruise Lines and the range of places that we explore. We are so grateful to the communities who welcome us and look forward to a strong future together as we cruise the Snake and Mississippi Rivers.”
